It's rare to have free weekends these days. A free weekend in my definition is a stay-at-home-weekend. Since social media doesn't appeal to me much these days, a stay-at-home-weekend usually will not be the kind where I just stay in bed and let time pass idly browsing FB or IG. It will usually be the time for my monthly spring cleaning because I'm sensitive to dust. But if there's nothing to clean up, I'll do other stuffs that I don't get to do on regular days like do jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, build my Gunpla or try a new recipe yeay! \(^^)/
Initially, I wanted to try to make 'Sambal Hitam Pahang' because my dad got a plastic bag full of belimbing buluh from his friend. Was asking my 'more experienced' UIA BFFs on the details after reading the recipe online: for tips la kononnya hahaha. But then they told me, boiling the belimbing for hours will leave thick black spots on the pot and they are hard to remove. I went to check which of my dad's pots can potentially be sacrificed and there was none. So lets just leave that for another free weekend.
Okay now let's move on to how I successfully made a delicious Shepherd's Pie hahaha Confident!
The original recipe can be found here.
These are my ingredients...
For the bottom layer..
Minced meat (RAMLEE. It was the only one available at the supermarket)
Onion
Carrot
Prego Mushroom Tomato Pasta Sauce
Butter
Worcestershire sauce
Knorr beef broth
For the top Layer
2 Potatoes
Butter
Cheddar Cheese (Optional)
Actually cooking the bottom layer was almost like cooking my lasagna tomato sauce. Melt the butter, saute the onion and the carrot until tender. You can add peas and corn, but I didn't add them since I don't like them both (not gonna give peas any chance!).
Put in the minced beef. Once cooked you can add the broth and the Worcestershire sauce. I carelessly put all the pasta sauce in and this resulted a very watery finish that my mashed potato sank when I layered them! T_T so next time I will put just a few table spoon just to give some tomato taste to it..
For the top layer, boil the potato and when it's already soft enough, mash it in a bowl along with some butter, salt and/or pepper. Easy!
Bottom layer... Nyami!!!!
Sinking mashed potato.. I panicked for a moment hahaha
And cheddar cheese for the top most layer!
Baked them at 200 C for 20 minutes.. And voilla all done..
Haih~ Sedap ok.. And dad was like "Kau ka masak ni?"
Yeah.. He was asleep when I was busy in the kitchen and might have thought I bought it from somewhere~ Ceyh...
Kagum pulak dengan recipe blogs.. I found it hard to take pictures of all the processes hahaha
