IIUM Kuantan Mega Assembly...

9 January 2009...

I know this one is quite obsolete but i really really want to congratulate all IIUM Kuantan students for their commitment during the Mega Assembly... Eventhough it was drizzling, we still stood there together to show our concern.. And also thanks to our Student Representative Council who'd organized the event...

Well, this is my first time to ever experience such assembly and I was very touched with all the efforts to help our brothers and sisters in Palestine.. I was so excited that morning that I sort of broke the news to some friends that I was going to attend a demonstration... Hehe.. One response from a friend..

"Em.. Gg rase wat demo cam ni effective ke? Cam tak effective je. Israel bukan takut pon"

Hurm.. Effective????

Well.. The main objective is of course we want the cruel war to stop... But to think about it.. Eventhough the Israelis are not listening to all the pleads and rage of the people of the world... At least such demonstration show that we care.. And what's more important is that such event can somehow be a reminder to those who are still unaware of the situation in GAZA.. Personally I was hoping that after the demonstration (which was broadcasted in TV3) there'll be more people praying for our brothers and sisters in Palestine...

There were speeches from lecturers and students that day.. I was awed most by a simple speech from the representative from the international student.. Lebih kurang gini la dia cakap... Ni refined punya version... Kira summary yg aku wat..

"The Muslims' iman are weakening and that is why we are oppressed.... All of us here have a role to play and most importantly is jihad against nafs"

Hurm.. Btol btol btol.. I always have this belief.. We, students, have our own form of jihad... Jihad against nafs is one of them.. and jihad to gain knowledge as much as we can to move our ummah is another... I saw that actually the Jews prosper due to their knowledge. Knowledge had made them strong.. So with knowledge we'll fight them back...

Lets continue our support for our brothers and sisters in Palestine... Don't forget to pray for them everyday.. Try to boycott as many israel-supporting products as you can.. Don't ever think that your small effort is worthless. It all counts...
